Ana de Freitas

She was born in Lisboa, Portugal, on May 21st 1965. She holds a first degree in Zootechnical Engineering (University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro - UTAD, 1991), a MSc degree in Marine and Coastal Studies (University of Algarve – UAlg, 1994), and a PhD in Biology (Biochemistry) (University of Algarve, 2001).
She was Equiparada a Assistente do 1º Triénio (1991-1992), Assistente 1º triénio (1992-1995), Assistente 2º triénio (1995-1999) and Equiparada a Professor Adjunto (2000-2003) at the School of Technology, UAlg, Equiparada a Professor Adjunto (2003-2005) and Professor Adjunto (2005-2013) at the School of Health, UAlg. Since 2013 she is a Professor Coordenador at the same school.
In UAlg, she has served in several management positions, such as Director of the 2nd degree of Food Engineering, Vice-Dean of Health Technologies Department, and Director of the Clinical Analysis and Public Health degree and of the Dietetics degree, Director of the School of Health and Member of the Coordinator Board of the Master course on Health Technology Assessment and Management.
She developed research activities at the Comparative Molecular Endocrinology Laboratory, Center of Marine Sciences (CCMAR) and more recently has been developing research and community extension activities in the fields of public health and health technology assessment.
